“Inbound Links Are The Most Influential Signal of Trust and Authority”

“Through all of the updates and algorithm changes over the years one thing remains the same: inbound links are the most influential signal of trust and authority. This isn’t going to change — not in 2015 or anytime soon. The days of building links on irrelevant blogs and chasing large quantities of links to game the search results are over.” – Jonathan Long, Entrepreneur

Beware “First Page” SEO Scammers

Have you ever gotten an email that guarantees first page results in search engines? How about a call stating that a company has a “special” relationship with Google? Lastly, what about that colleague who states you can gain tons of business by “buying keywords”?

I’m here to say: BUYER BEWARE!

Did you know that search engines NEVER guarantee top placement in search results or paid advertising and actually encourages companies to report these kind of unethical practices? Why?

According to the most popular search engine, Google, “While SEOs can provide clients with valuable services, some unethical SEOs have given the industry a black eye through their overly aggressive marketing efforts and their attempts to manipulate search engine results in unfair ways.”

Google even goes on to say “Practices that violate our guidelines may result in a negative adjustment of your site’s presence in Google, or even the removal of your site from our index.”

Do you want to pay big bucks just to be banned from the #1 search engine?

When discussing search engine optimization or SEO with current or potential clients, I encourage them to take a look at this support article from Google. I believe it helps to outline the key differences between legitimate and scamming SEO companies from a valid third party.

Google, and other popular search engines such as Bing and Yahoo! have guidelines that companies, such as Rokkit Marketing, work hard to adhere too.  We believe in following ethical best practices to get you found without sacrificing quality or our clients integrity.

Quote: “Google Appears to Be Placing More Emphasis on Brand Mentions and Citations.”

“Due to the widespread misuse and abuse of link building (think link building schemes and negative SEO), Google appears to be placing more emphasis on brand mentions and citations, which are less likely and less easy to be manipulated for the purpose of achieving higher search rankings.” – Jayson DeMers, Forbes
